Out of the Shadows

*** Book of the dead retrieved, but Naezorm (A well known Instructor from Everise's Wizard School) is drained, and unable to help for the threat that comes. Our heroes meet those that hunt from the shadows... ***

After we exit the portal, we observe a large group of human villagers climbing the mountain to the ritual site. We greet them and set up camp for the night. During the first watch, Boram hears a cry for help along the mountain pass leading up the mountain. Boram woke the party and we descend to the area where we heard the cry and engage in combat with 16 knolls. After killing 12 of the knolls, and catching the other 4 in a web spell, Boram is back-stabbed by an attractive female roguish type. 

The rogue is a Medusa. HOLY SHIT!!! After a long battle, we beat her down and she calls in 2 Dire Hyenas. We kill one of the hyenas and the rest of the knolls and are then blinded by the Medusa, who we learn is the Mother of the Skigge, of legend. Boram fires one last arrow, blind, at her as she flees on the last Dire Hyena and critically hit her and kill her. Knolls pour out of the woods and bow to us. The knoll that Talus and Boram ripped the eye from, retrieves Medusa's Skigge bow and offers it to Boram. Boram accepts it and returns the Knoll's bow back to him, winning his loyalty. 

Boram is, for the time being, the head of the Skygge thieving/assassins guild.
